Packed with classic tremolo effects, Soundtoys have used their custom LFO waveshape editor to recreate iconic tremolo effects including those taken from vintage guitar amps and even the legendary Wurlitzer piano. There is a wide range of presets on offer spanning all of history’s favourite tremolo effects.
The Tremolator is perfect for adding movement and character to a sound, ideal for a range of instruments including guitars, synths, keys and even vocals. Utilising the wide range of controls and the waveshape/rhythm editors you can generate everything from slow volume swells to rhythmic auto-gating.
With two onboard editors, the Tremolator puts you in the driving seat, allowing you to manually draw in the tremolo effect using the LFO waveshape editor. This is how each of the presets were created by Soundtoys, by meticulously recreating the waveshape of classic effects resulting in accurate emulations.
The programmable rhythm editor allows you to create your own patterns and beat-sync them to create an auto-gate effect. Lock it to MIDI so it matches the tempo of your project or choose from a range of settings including 1/8th notes, 16th notes and so forth. You can even choose which analog processing the tremolo goes through, with seven distinctive styles resulting in differing tonality.
Not only can you shape and set the rhythm of your tremolo, but you can also change the overall dynamics and modulate the sound further for added versatility. Using the precision controls, you can dictate the speed of the tremolo based on the velocity when playing in notes. Use the smoothing to create fade outs or smoother transitions between notes. There are also dynamic presets available in the “Dynamics” folder, acting as a great starting point to tweak and experiment.
