Featuring a limitless feedback amount and 512 milliseconds of delay time as well as a Freeze function, PrimalTap gives you endless decay to play with, allowing you to create infinite loops, warped delays and grungy atmospheric echos and everything in between all with the same grit and tone that made the original a staple in the recording music studio. The unique Multiply feature doubles the delay time and halves the sampling rate at each interval, up to eight times, letting you add a new layer of sonic colouration to your tone to carve your sonic signature.
Encouraging you to 'perform' with the effect, PrimalTap is much more than a traditional set and forget delay plug-in, instead, you should experiment with adjusting parameters in the middle of a delayed phrase to create evolving and expansive repeats that can completely change the way you approach your delay effects in your projects.

Modelled after a unique and fabled digital delay effects processer, PrimalTap delivers the same unique characteristics that made the original hardware popular amongst artists in the '80s for rich guitar delay, chorus and flange. The attraction to the original unit was the 'Multiply' feature, a parameter that enabled you to double the delay time and half the sample rate on each turn, up to eight times. This lead to some unique and unusual delays that rewrote the rules on what a traditional delay effect should sound like, allowing you to explore long lo-fi loops, warped delays, grungey atmospheric echoes and classic spacey delays all in one plug-in.
Much more than simply a 'set and forget' delay unit, PrimalTap requires a hands-on approach to get the best of it. Treat PrimalTap as an instrument, more than an effect and you will reap the benefits of a completely unique soundscape that will sound nothing like anyone else, stamping your sonic signature. The 'Adjust' dial allows you to create pitch shifting or chorus effects when moved and can be used with automation to create a host of other different effect types when used in conjunction with the other parameters available in PrimalTap. What sets it apart from traditional delays is the input dial that when pushed, will drive your sound into a unique saturation that simply isn't possible with traditional delays.
Much like the big brother hardware original, PrimalTap includes a VCO section to add modulation to your delay trails. Here, you can create a barrage of different effects, from the subtle to the extreme, including tap-flanging, chorus-like effects, pitch-drifting echos, shimmering octave harmonies and much more. Think of the classic '80s clean electric guitar tone, and here is your answer. In the most basic of description, Freeze lets you loop a section of audio from a slice that you chose from an incoming signal, either synced to host BPM tempo or via a length you set manually. When used in conjunction and adjusted with Time, VCO and Multiply settings, this is where the real fun begins! You can quickly warp your looped audio into expanding, evolving and out of this world soundscapes that can completely transform your original sound into something truly unique.
Pushing the envelope means that PrimalTap needed to be brought into the 21st century. Although modelled on a vintage hardware unit, adjustments have been made in PrimalTap to fit the demands of modern producers and engineers by adding features and optimising the performance and sound.
Included in the improvements to PrimalTap are new Feedback algorithms, that offer four unique types of feedback not found on the original hardware unit, allowing you to run in parallel, series, ping-pong and reverb. An input drive has been added to virtually send your signal into searing harmonic overdrive that can completely reshape your sound and give you grit and attitude to your delays.
