The frequency shifting powerhouse
Centred around two Shift knobs, HertzRider2 is a stereo-enabled processor with independent control over the left and right channels. These Shift dials set the amount by which the input signal is shifted up or down on each of the stereo channels. The main Shift controls are partnered with the range control that enables the sweep of the Shift control to reach from 1kHz, 3kHz or 10kHz.
One of the most exciting new features of HertzRider2 is the ability to utilise a sidechain input to create frequency shifting effects. This is done using the Internal and External slider, allowing you to blend smoothly between input sources. Ideal for blending between an external rhythmic source such as drums, HertzRider2's envelope control lets you start to influence the effect of the pitch shifting. For further control over the external sidechain input and the change this will have on your frequency shifting, HertzRider2 includes a Threshold, Mode and Time control. Threshold sets the level at which the sidechain input is being triggered, perfect for transient-heavy material such as drums or percussion. The Mode button toggles between three available parameters that influence the Time parameter, namely Attack, Attack/Release and Release. Each mode then functions as the parameter that will be adjusted using the Time value. This detailed control over your sidechain ensures that no matter source you are using, you can remain musical, exciting and in time with the tempo of your project.
Expect the unexpected with LFO modulation
A total of six waveforms are on offer with the integrated LFO. Sine, triangle, square, saw up, saw down and smooth randomizer (wobble) are on offer and can be combined with several parameters to create an exciting modulation with your sound design. Set the rate of the oscillator speed from 0.1 to 10Hz, adjust the depth of the oscillator and offset the phase of your LFO to introduce interesting stereo effects.
You can take a basic synth line from monotonous to weird and wonderful with ease using the inbuilt LFO within HertzRider2. A simple sine wave at a low rate can introduce subtle drifting between pitches for a more lively and energetic sound. In previous versions of HertzRider, only the LFO shape, rate, depth and offset parameters were available. Now in HertzRider2, you have the option to sync your LFO to musical values set by your host software. This small but significant update allows you to sync to the timing of your project for more precise movements between modulation sources. With the newly introduced sync, you can explore more pulsating, rhythmic effects within your sound design that complement the groove of the music.
