The MXL 550/551 Large Diaphragm Plus Instrument Microphone is the perfect microphone bundle for singer-songwriters and budding engineers. Consisting of a large and small diaphragm condenser, you'll find that both microphones provide you with a comprehensive set of tools to capture instruments and vocals with conviction. Their cardioid polar patterns ensure exceptional off-axis rejection of undesirable noise and ambience of around 6dB at the sides with a null point at the rear. This will prove particularly useful if you're recording in acoustically inadequate spaces.

Coming complete with premium gold-sputtered diaphragms, you'll find that these microphones are extremely sensitive. They're designed to capture every last nuance of any source with an incredible degree of accuracy.
What makes cardioid so great?
Cardioid is excellent for delivering a tight-focused sound, whilst providing excellent off-axis rejection of around -6dB of unwanted noise and ambience. Achieving great sounds with the Mini is as simple as positioning the microphone directly in front of the source and pressing record, it'll take care of the rest! This is a great polar pattern to rely on when recording live performances, either on-stage, or, in-the-studio.
