Stunning tonewoods
A timeless masterpiece. This is an instrument that is very much entrenched in tradition. By using handmade techniques that were used over a century ago, the craftsmanship involved in creating this work of art is as clear as day. The genuine mahogany neck provides a firm mid range that radiates from the belly of the D-28. You can feel the history flow out of the dreadnought body as you strike a chord - it's truly remarkable.
That classic Martin sound, brought back to life. By using modern day technology of thermal ageing, they've managed to replicate the DNA of some of their oldest models - reviving that authentic 1830's sound. By cooking the spruce in a vacuum, it produces the enhanced tones from that golden era. It's the closest thing to time travel - encounter this phenomenon firsthand.
Comfortable playability
Martin truly understand the needs of acoustic guitar players and that's why they've given everything to ensure the best playing experience possible. The highly developed D-28 removes any unnecessary discomfort that may occur during a lengthy jam session. With a narrower vintage deluxe neck, it relieves you of any exerted pressure when it's in your hand - making those chord changes that much smoother.
Luxury epitomised. For all you folk lovers - fingerpicking has never been made easier. The smooth ebony fretboard contributes to the playability allowing you to glide from chord to chord with complete ease. It'll also remove any cramp you might experience throughout a live show. Relax and perform with confidence because you can depend on the D-28 - just like Paul McCartney regularly does...
A modern classic
Considered, measured, and authentic. Martin have expertly combined both classic and modern features to provide you with an instrument that has the very best of both worlds. As you look at the D-28, your eyes are immediately drawn to that classic logo on the headstock. Taken from an 1830's model, it's the crown that has become ever so distinguishable. Crafted from pearl, it beautifully complements the pearl side dot inlays. Not to mention the gold plated open gear tuners and frets - beauty, unrivalled.
These vintage aesthetics are coupled with unique hardware that makes the guitar ready for the 21st Century. The Liquidmetal custom bridge pins allows your guitar to reflect your playing energy rather than absorb. This increases the volume of your playing by 3 to 5 decibels whilst adding that extra bit of sustain.
It's lighter, too. A titanium truss rod reduces weight by 60 compared to traditional steel rods.
Lightweight, durable, and very responsive - Martin have pulled out all the stops to engineer the ultimate acoustic guitar.
Made with absolute precision
Using state of the art technology, Martin produce their guitars with exquisite accuracy. The development of the Plek system highlights the attention to detail that has gone into the D-28. They carefully place the guitar into a string tension simulator which optimises the string action. This recreates playing conditions to ensure the guitar's pitch is flawless. By scanning the fretboard, it also finds any uneven angles so that it can be dressed to perfection - giving you that classic Martin playability. Custom built, for you.
Lasting Martin legacy
A seed first sewn in 1833 by founder Christian Frederick Martin, it planted the foundation of all acoustic guitars that we know and love today. No wonder it's been used by some of the most influential guitarists of all time. From Neil Young's complex fingerpicking style to Kurt Cobain's punchy MTV unplugged chords - the guitar's dynamic ability to adapt to any type of genre is extraordinary. It continues to flourish and evolve, whilst managing to preserve that classic sound and philosophy that has become archetypal of Martin. Top quality guitars, top quality sound.
Safe and sound
A guitar this good deserves to be kept in pristine condition. Martin have included a ply hardshell case, the ideal environment to keep your D-28 in. This ensures it's protected and kept out of harms way. You can trust that your instrument will remain in the condition you first bought it - allowing you to treasure it for years to come. So, just like the Martin way, you can pass this down for generations - this is yours forever...
