This Mustang bass has been crafted with a classic alder body, injecting your overall tone with excellent resonance, and balanced for extra clarity when playing at high volumes. Fender have used alder as their tonewood of choice since the '50s, as its balanced response and definition is ideal for rock and blues.
The addition of a maple neck provides this model with a beautifully bright characteristic, tightening up the overall tonality and deliver plenty of cut, while its C profile provides a comfortably smooth performance. The neck is coupled with a matching maple fingerboard to enhance the bass with warm and soft tones. Its naturally oily surface allows any stray overtones to be absorbed, while the maple neck delivers a powerfully sharp punch when the strings are hit hard.
Featuring a carefully fitted synthetic bone nut, this Fender bass delivers an increased resonance and bright tonality. When compared to traditional plastic and TUSQ materials used to construct guitar nuts, synthetic bone improves the vibration transfer between the string and tuning machines without dampening the tone.
The Mustang bass was created as a companion for the range of Fender Mustang guitars, and was the last original bass designed by Leo Fender before his departure. The Mustang has become a hallmarked shape in underground music and culture, featuring in bands from the Rolling Stones to My Chemical Romance. Since its launch in 1964, this unique bass has become a classic choice for performing musicians worldwide thanks to its short scale length accommodating players with small hands.
