At the core of the FET47 lies a HZ Series 34mm all-brass, dual-backplate K47. This is the end result of years of hard-work and collaboration between Eric Heiserman and United Studios Technologies, the intent being to provide a fresh perspective on the revered K47 German capsule. You can rest assured knowing you're getting nothing short of exceptional quality. Eric Heiserman is revered within the recording community for his replications of highly-sought after capsules.
Just like the original, the FET47 will make your recordings sound larger than life. Thanks to its full frequency response, every last nuance will be replicated with exceptional attention being paid to detail. The build quality of these capsules is in a league of its own. Only a handful are manufactured in short bursts, each has been meticulously tested and compared against the original to ensure that you receive only the highest quality.
When building the FET47, many emulations of the initial German transformer were tried and tested. These were quickly discarded upon the discovery of Cinemag Transformers. Hailing from California, the transformer is basic in its design, consisting of conjoined sets of steel and nickel laminations that have been wound based on the specifications of its predecessor. Sure, there were cheaper options available on the market, but why compromise on quality when the microphone is already four times cheaper than the original?
Get the sound right at source. The FET47 includes a 75Hz high-pass filter, this is excellent for removing low-end rumble, without having to reach for filters in your pre-amp or DAW. Engage the -10dB pad to decrease the sensitivity of the capsule on sources which have high SPLs, such as dynamic vocalists, amplifiers, and kick drums. This reduces the risk of distortion ruining those perfect takes.
