The release of the JD-800 took the synthesizer world by storm, harking back to the roots of synthesizers with a focus on sound design with an aggressive sound palette. It changed the landscape of the EDM scene in the early ’90s, with many iconic tracks being birthed from sounds created by this now legendary synthesizer. The JD-08 provides you with a faithful recreation of this classic synth thanks to advanced analog modelling technology, combined with a range of modern upgrades. With all 108 original waveforms and 64 presets, the only limit is your imagination.
Whilst staying true to the original sound, Roland has expanded the module’s design for the modern age. 24 brand new presets are included as well as expanded memory locations – now up to 256. You can also enjoy expanded polyphony and two-part multitimbral capabilities so you have more tools to shape your sound.
It wouldn’t be a classic Roland synth without a powerful sequencer and arpeggiator and the JD-08 is no exception. Once you’ve created your own patches you can start programming patterns and arranging sequences using the two-part polyphonic sequencer. The sequencer features useful tools like motion recording to keep your inspiration flowing. You can also create rhythms using melodies via the onboard arpeggiator.
Works with just about anything you want it to. It features USB audio/MIDI and MIDI jacks. It also features an external clock input meaning you can sync up with a range of vintage equipment or even modern Eurorack systems. As well as being convenient it also gives the synthesizer a life of its own, providing unexpected phrases, rhythmic variations, and a whole range of organic outputs.
