A vintage voice with a vintage appearance. The Hummingbird features a thermally aged top. Its remarkable sonic ability is now increased even further by Gibson's high-tech ageing process. This excellent ageing process enhances the Hummingbird's tone, and projection beautifully. Gibson's thermally aged process involves slowly removing and then reintroducing moisture into the wood, which as a result makes it stiffer and, therefore, better suited to dynamic playing. The Hummingbird has all the amazing sonic character of a classic, more mature acoustic. A sound of years gone by, Gibson's Limited Edition 2019 Hummingbird is here. Remarkable and distinctive - an exquisite tone.
The Gibson Hummingbird Vintage 2019 only gets better with age. The Hummingbird features a thermally aged sitka spruce top which delivers a broad dynamic range, and a sound that develops character over its life. In addition, the Hummingbird's beautiful top is accompanied by mahogany back and sides which produce a resonant, distinct-warmth. Additionally, used as back and side panels, the mahogany projects a superb mid-range, producing punchy, woody tones with plenty of depth and complexity. This sonically-pleasing mixture of tonewoods is well-known among guitarists as the 'classic' acoustic sound, providing versatility, and warmth. Perfect for almost any genre of music, you can get creative with Gibson and find your vintage vibe.
This distinctive Hummingbird projects an enormous acoustic voice and maintains overall tonal balance. The Hummingbird's square shoulders deliver a superb bass response due to the sound having more room to reverberate around the body. In addition, when you attack the flat-top with a more aggressive strumming pattern, the sound just gets bigger and bigger. You can achieve numerous genres with ease including blues, rock, pop, country and much more. It can be the heart of any great melody.
Constructed from mahogany, the Hummingbird's neck offers a quick, dynamic response. Additionally, the neck features a round profile, offering comfort with an authentic feel. Its smooth playing neck is topped with a rosewood fingerboard that adds clarity to the Hummingbird's sound whilst providing a smooth playing experience. Furthermore, the fingerboard is graced with eye-catching mother of pearl parallelogram inlays, adding to its incredibly familiar, premium appearance.
As with many of Gibson's acoustic range, the Hummingbird comes fitted with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. This specific type of bracing structure consists of two braces forming an 'X' shape across the soundboard which not only enhances the sound and offers a well-balanced tone, but also provides a reinforced stable and durable structure. In addition, with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, the Hummingbird's tone is enhanced beautifully, delivering superior projection and volume. Each and every hand-scalloped Gibson is hand-made. It requires much more time and effort to construct a guitar in this manner, but the results are sensational. Time honoured, and durable with a superior tone.
A familiar, distinctive appearance - the Hummingbird continues to stand out from the crowd, looking regal and ready. The body is finished in a stunning heritage cherry sunburst which is a key part of its rich history. Additionally, the distinctive colour is complemented by a hand-painted pickguard, which embodies the aptly named 'Hummingbird' design beautifully. Gotoh relic tuners, aged gold plating, and its thermally aged top bring you a look of years gone by. An instantly recognisable look with a regal, vintage vibe.
A bone nut offers an authentic appearance with excellent resonance and sustain. Additionally, it also delivers a very balanced tone whilst offering a long life-span. This type of nut naturally self-lubricates, and helps you stay in tune for longer.
